Fenix TK40 Flashlight Review

The whole point of a HID flashlight is to put incredible light output in a small, portable package.  So what if you could get that same type of power... in a LED flashlight?!

Enter the Fenix TK40 High Performance Flashlight.  The TK40 uses a super high performance Cree LED that puts out 630 lumens.  This is close to the output you could expect from a 10W HID flashlight, but with all the benefits of LED technology.

While the TK40 will run at full power for about 2 hours, you also have the flexibility to run at lower light output settings, which can dramatically extend the battery life.  LED also enables blink modes, which just are not possible with HID flashlights today.

The TK40 runs on plain old AA batteries.  The downside is that it does not have built-in rechargibles like some of the other HID flashlight models... but the upside is you can easily and inexpensively swap them out if you ever run out.  

While the Fenix TK40 might not pack the same power as a true 35W HID flashlight, it's hard to argue with the features and performance you get for a fraction of the price.
